Lemon Law

Refers to various state laws protecting consumers against the purchase of vehicles found to be persistently defective.

State's lemon law
State Lemon Laws and Federal Warranty Law protect consumers from being stuck with Lemon Cars, Lemon Trucks, Lemon SUV's and Lemon Computers and other Consumer Products. If your car or computer is a lemon, you may be entitled to your money back, a replacement or a cash settlement. So you have nothing to lose, except that Lemon!

The lemon law for each State is found its consumer legislation, which includes everything about how goods can be sold, in what kind of condition, and under what terms and circumstances. The legislation is intended to protect the average consumer (who isn't expected to know everything!) from the fraudulent sales of goods, including motor vehicles.

This may vary from state to state. search for your state's lemon law for details.

think about this

hey people
i know my blog must be the most boaring one on earth cz i decide to post only once in a blue moon he he he

Anyway thesedays one thing that I've focused my attention happens to the USA elections. Its quite interesting because of the different approach in voting and also coz of the presidential candidates. I feel that the USA presidential elections has a global impact especially whether there will be a change in their foreign policy. This is because USA always seems to be interfering too much in the international sphere!
What really got me interested is the democratic presidential candidate BARRACK OBAMA, this is coz he is quite different from the others coz he's an African American! so im waiting to see whether America will have a wholly different president like him or whether they will have Hilary Clinton as their first woman president!

what are ur views?

Hi

hey everyone, im writing after a long time guess i have a very booooooooaring blog with no interesting posts!

Anyways thought of starting a moot point for a change. So what do you think about the AIDS? Someone might wonder why im asking about this.well since December 1st is world AIDS day and there will be many awareness programs on this, i think we as Sri Lankans Should be sensitive about this issue. its something we are quite reluctant to talk about& i feel that many of us don't bother about it coz we are not affected. But the situation in sri lanka is said to be getting worse and youth should be made aware about it more....

Wanted to write about this area after i went to this meeting NGO called SAVE LANKA KIDS, who mainly focus on conducting awareness programs on AIDS to our youth.

So think about it for a change and consider how much you are actually aware.

Law is undoubtedly an area of study that is essential at some point to everyone and it has many interconnections with other areas of study. I thought of writing about this topic because personally I find law so interesting since it is the area I persue my studies in. I did give a very brief introduction to law in a prior post. However due to the very impressive comments by some regarding that particular post, I have decided to write something about law and continue to do so in future as well.So I hope this blog will create an intrest to anyone who wants to know more about law & you are most welcome to ask any question on legal topics, specially the sri lankan position.

So lets learn the basics today and gradually develop an undestanding about this facinating area of study.

why do we need Law? well that's a basic question you would ask even from a law student. An instant answer would be, to govern society in a certain manner otherwise individuals will take decisions as they please and society would be in chaos. so law has existed in some form or other in almost every civilization, be it very basic rules such as customs, to very advance rule like those found in Roman law.

However to roots of most basic principles of law are connected to the rich historical era of the Roman empire. Thus Roman law( which is a seperate subject in many law courses although the roman law per se is obsolete) is very valuable to identify basic principles of law & these are even evident today. For example the Roman law of property has developed the law governing servitudal rights, where one individual has rights over a another individual's land. This principle is still applicable today & we commonly know this a right of way.

Moving on to the basic divisions of law, there as two major divisions, namely the common law and the civil law. the former also known as the angl-american tradition is the law that prevails in countries like UK & USA. the latter system of law mainly prevails in european countries like france & germany. this basic distinction is vital since it is the foundation of a legal system in any country.

It is also important to know what the sources of law are, meaning where we can find the law. Thus the main sources of law are, Legislation( laws passed by parliament such as 'Acts'), Judicial Precedent ( that is case law), Custom( Practices for a long period of time) & opinion of jurists ( legal scholors like, Hugo Grotiuos, Johannes Voet etc). The importance given to these various sources will differ accoding to the legal system. Thus in the common law legislation is the most important source followed by the other sources mentioned above, whereas in civil law tradition opinion of jurists is the main source of law.
well this is actually the first time im writing in my blog. thought of writing something bout what im doing these days. Well it may not sound so interesting to some but studying for exams is really freaking me out thesedays and i just dont know why im feeling scared about an exam. so i was wondering whether anyone has good advice how to cool down during study leave...

Introduction to LAW

In Brief

Law is a system of rules that is usually enforced through a set of institutions. Law affects everyday life and society in a variety of ways. Contract law regulates everything from buying a bus ticket to trading swaptions on a derivatives market. Property law defines rights and obligations related to buying, selling, or renting real property such as homes and buildings. Trust law applies to assets held for investment, such as pension funds. Tort law allows claims for compensation when someone or their property is harmed. But if the harm is criminalised, and the act is intentional, criminal law offers means to prosecute and punish the perpetrator. Constitutional law provides a framework for creating laws, protecting people's human rights, and electing political representatives, while administrative law allows ordinary citizens to challenge the way governments exercise power. International law regulates affairs between sovereign nation-states in everything from trade to the environment to military action. "The rule of law", wrote the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle in 350 BC, "is better than the rule of any individual."
